This is hip! Heres Harley-Davidson, the company famous for being more conservative than The Vatican, but still with the image of a libertine. On paper the Forty-Eight (48) is nothing more than yet another Sportster with different handlebars and wheels taken from the Harley catalog.
So, why is the Forty-Eight so damn cool and makes you feel so good riding it?
The Forty-Eight joins the Harley-Davidson Dark Custom line, adding another affordable Sportster to the range, and its a great place for a new rider to start. Lowered suspension, Fat Bob front tire, peanut tank, forward-mounted footpegs and forward-mounted short bars create a riding style without any big twin comfort compromises.
The low 26.8-inch solo seat sags almost an inch if you weigh 180 pounds (official H-D measurements). The 2012 MY Harley Davidson XL1200X Forty-Eight sports an air-cooled, 1202cc, Evolution V-twin powerhouse paired to a five-speed manual transmission, and can produce 107 Nm of torque at 400 rpm. It addresses riders who want a more clean look to their machine, with no unnecessary visual embellishments.
Inspired from the 60's cafe racers and bobbers, this machine comes with a solo seat, a chopped rear fender, slammed handlebars with a speedometer and under-mount mirrors, a wide front tire, a chromed exhaust system, and a number of blacked-out parts that give it an inconspicuous aggressiveness.
Harley-Davidson's profilation of this bike
Custom touches define this bulldog of a bike. A slammed speedometer, under bar mounted mirrors and 26-inch seat height offer a low profile, while the peanut tank and big 16-inch wheels combine for a menacing look that could only come from Harley-Davidson. This bike has the aftermarket seat and exhaust for that added period look, feel and sound. This bike like all our bikes will be fully serviced, inspected and detailed at the time you take delivery.
